North Star FCCLA members were very successful at the recent State Leadership Conference in Billings. North Star will be represented at the National FCCLA conference in Orlando, FL, this July by six students and their advisor, Mrs. Chinadle. The Junior Food Innovations Team of Alissa Borlaug, Mackenzie Hansen and Tylynn Rettig was selected as the second place team with their project on “M.A.T. Bars” which qualifies them to represent Montana at the National Conference. Earning the top gold medal in Nutrition and Wellness and a trip to National Conference was Cooper Spicher. Kassidy Hansen was installed as the new State Officer of Parliamentary Law and will be receiving State Officer Training in Orlando. Karston Donoven will be joining the group as a student evaluator at the national competition. Maria Borlaug, Angie Hansen and Tiffany Rettig will be joining the group as chaperones and evaluators. North Star FCCLA members receiving gold medals include Alissa Borlaug, Mackenzie Hansen, Tylynn Rettig in Food Innovations, Cooper Spicher in Nutrition and Wellness, Shelby Lipp and Delainey Spicher in Focus on Children, Melissa Pester in Storytelling and Calvin Vaughn in Waiter. Silver Medal winners include Karston Donoven in Job Interview, Chenoa Lenhardt and Kimberly Luttrell in Life Event Planning, Marielle Simonson in Career Investigation and Jaxon Simonson in Recycle and Redesign. Bronze medal winners include Bettie and Lisa Carlon in Environmental Ambassador, Brandi Crittenden in Recycle and Redesign, Shelby Sizemore in Illustrated Talk and Thatcher Smith in Career Investigation. McKenna Holt received a Certificate of Participation in Focus on Children. North Star should be especially proud of Taylor Warren who finished her term as State Vice President and had a large part in planning this great event. Taylor Warren was also the recipient of a $500.00 FCCLA Scholarship. This trip would not be possible without the generous donation of time and energy from our dedicated chaperones. Thanks and appreciation goes out to Linda Boehm, Kathy Preeshl, Ann Warren and Catalina Carlon. Our ever faithful and patient bus driver was Ken Watson. Thanks also to the parents of the students for your continued support of FCCLA in our school.
